Janine Scott is a second career High School Mathematics Master Teacher at Davis Aerospace High School in Detroit, Michigan.
She has been teaching in Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) since August 2003 for a total of 16 years. Janine attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Operations Engineering (B.S.I.O.E).
She later returned to Wayne State University in Detroit, where she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in math and science.
Prior to working at DPS, Scott was an award-winning sales engineer in corporate America (IBM) for over 13 years. However, she often says those awards pale in comparison to the SIX Educator Impact awards received from her DPSCD students.
In addition to giving her all inside her math classroom, Scott is also active in her district and professional and public service organizations.
She worked with the DPSCD textbook selection committee and helped the district to write help write the High School math curriculum guides. She has also taught a College of Education Technology Class at Wayne State University and works as a consultant at Schoolcraft College to develop and present math workshops.
She is currently the president of Chalkbeat’s reader advisory board, sits on the national K-12 education board for SAE, serves as an Advisor for the Davis Aerospace HS National Honor Society, and is a mentor teacher for the Davis Aerospace Robotics team.
Janin is also a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Detroit Alumnae Chapter, has two dogs, and loves to read and dance.

I am a high school Math teacher at Davis Aerospace Technical High School in Detroit. I have been an educator since 2003.
The youngest of the six children of Alonzo and Martha Scott
Graduated from J.W. Sexton H.S. in Lansing, MI
Graduated from the College of Engineering with a B.S.I.O.E from the University of Michigan
Graduated from the College of Education with a M.A.T. (Math and Science) from Wayne State University
I have an EX (math 6-12) and DX (science 6-12) certification from the State of Michigan.
